Anti-Aging chinese
As we age, our body begin to function less efficient as before. The reason to as to why we age, it might be caused by our surrounding environment, and our genes. Ageing is a natural process of life, and it is inevitable. What we could is to find out about our body conditions early, so as to seek the appropriate medical treatments or preventions.
According to World Health Organisation, health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and nor merely the absence of diseases infirmity. As ageing occurs, we no longer have our health. Diseases and conditions that are associated with ageing include diabetes, arthritis, osteoporosis, heart disease and cancer. By having early health screening, detection and management, these conditions might be prevented and even cured.
Effects of ageing can be seen in every parts of the body, both internally and externally.
Effects of ageing can be seen in:
- Cardiovascular system: lead to development of heart related diseases.
- Respiratory system: lead to fatigue, shortness of breath on exertion, and susceptible to infections.
- Muscular system: loss of muscle strength, and increase in fats in the body
- Skeletal system: lead to osteoporosis (especially in women), prone to fractures, brittle and porous bone.
- Metabolic system: lead to decrease in energy expenditure per day and insulin resistant which can lead to diabetes.
- Digestive system: lead to indigestion, inadequate nutrients absorbed.
- Neurological system: lead to inability to feel pain, or feel pain at a lesser magnitude. This will cause you to be unable to tell if a certain condition or diseases is bringing you pain.
- Genito-urinary system: men may experience prostate enlargement, women may experience hormonal changes and causes vaginal itching and burning.
- Sensory system: decrease in sensitivity of your five senses (sight, smell, touch, hearing, taste).
- Hair, skin and face: whitening of the hair, baldness; skin become wrinkled, dry and easily bruised (MySeniorHealthCare.com, 2009)
For the scientific community, anti-aging research refers exclusively to slowing, preventing, or reversing the aging process. There is, as of 2010, no proven medical technology that allows this goal to be accomplished in humans - although the jury is still out on the practice of calorie restriction and regular exercise. Nor is there any currently available method (short of waiting for people to die) to accurately measure the effects of an alleged anti-aging therapy.
In the medical and more reputable business community, anti-aging medicine means early detection, prevention, and reversal of age-related diseases. This is quite different from tackling the aging process itself, and a wide array of strategies and therapies are currently available. Calorie restriction, for example, is a demonstrated way to lower risk for a wide range of age-related degenerative conditions
Many interventions lengthen life span for individuals by preventing or curing specific age-related diseases that would otherwise prove fatal. For example, ask yourself whether preventing heart disease or diabetes is anti-aging medicine. This would have no effect on the aging process, but it would help many people to live longer, healthier lives. Is this anti-aging research? Scientists say no, some medical and business groups say yes.
